Goverdhan Mathura
India is a land of holy places. There are a total of 7 holy cities in India and one of them is Mathura. People who visit Mathura find that there are a large number of temples in Mathura and some of them are very popular. Temples like Ramjanam Bhoomi, Jai Gurudev ashram, Bhooteshwar temple see a large number of devotees all round the year. Goverdhan which is located in Mathura is a very famous holy place. Goverdhan is the name of a hill which is associated with Lord Krishna.
Most of the devotees visit Goverdhan for spinning around it. Spinning around this hill is known as parikrama. The total distance which is covered while doing the whole parikrama of Goverdhan is 24 kilometers. While doing the parikrama, one enters in to the dig district of Rajasthan which is an adjoining state to Rajasthan. On the eve of Bhaidooj, which is a famous Hindu festival, a large number of devotees come to Goverdhan for taking a bath. It is believed that if a brother and sister take a bath together here on the day of Bhaidooj then they will go to the heaven after their death. Most people who live in Goverdhan are very co operative and good natured.
