Mathura Refinery

Mathura RefineryWhen the name of Mathura is mentioned then two things come in to mind. First is “temples” and second is “Mathura refinery”. Indian Oil Corporation is the owner of the Mathura refinery, which is located in Mathura situated in Uttar Pradesh. Sulphur crude is processed in Mathura refinery. This sulphur crude comes from different places like Bombay high, Nigeria and Middle East.

The famous Mathura refinery which is working successfully at present was started in the year of 1982. The then Prime Minister of India i.e. Indira Gandhi laid the foundation for the Mathura refinery. It took a huge amount i.e. 253.92 crores to build this refinery. The Mathura refinery has worked in a fluent and successful manner in all the years except the year of 2009. In the year of 2009, the refinery was shut down for a small period of time as there was a strike.

The capacity of Mathura refinery has also been increased since the time it has started. Some studies have found out that because of the Mathura refinery, the color of Taj Mahal is getting yellowish. Because of this, it is under the eyes of many archaeologists and protectionists of Historical monuments.
